Hey Folks, Jeremy here.
It’s been a busy week for me so I haven’t had a chance to plan out an article like a I do most weeks. Instead, I thought I’d take the opportunity in my weekly Sunday column to tell everyone a little bit about all the amazing things that are going on with all of Firetower’s many projects. Everybody hold on, because it’s going to be a crazy new year.
First off, we’ve been planning our convention season for the next year and things are looking really great. First off, we have a couple of local conventions in the coming months, the first being Illogicon in Raleigh this January. It’s their first time out and let me tell you, the planners for this event are ambitious. Check out their site and put this one on your calendar. After that, we’ll take February off and head to Stellar Con in High Point, NC in March. We made our first outing here last year with Bull Spec’s Sam Montgomery-Blinn and had such a great time at this regional sci-fi convention we decided to get a table of our own this year. To finish the month of March we’ll also be visiting Roanoke Valley Comiccon in Virginia.
Looking a little further into the future, Jason will be appearing at Boston Comic Con in April. other cons we’ve signed on for include Asheville, Nc’s Fanaticon in May, Denver Comic Con and Literary Expo, Heroes Con in Charlotte in June, Baltimore Comicon, SPX, and of course the next NC Comicon which is not quite scheduled yet. We’re definitely open for more and if you know any good conventions we can get to without spending an arm and a leg, let us know and we’ll check into it.
Of course, you’ll also be seeing new stuff from our webcomics even before the new year. This week you’ll see something really special as the werewolf of Werewolf DA is finally going to make her appearance. The Faerie sisters will be making their way out of the castle and into modern England. Get ready for the vampires of Ennui of the Dead to show their fangs as some real decisions about a vampire’s place in the world need to be made. And of course, be sure you join Jeremy, Alicia, and Zuri for lots of fun and borderline racism on Hot Interracial Marriage and Charlie’s political commentary in Crazy Normal.
Naturally not all of our comics are digital though, make sure you check out the print comics as well. Issue 6 of The Order of Dagonet is at the printer’s right now and Jason is already working on thumbnails for issue 7. The mission is by the end of the year to have a second trade to go with the first one. That means the first of the Firetower original series will be up to eight issues and half way to its conclusion.
Also, look our for the conclusion of Jason and Jeremy’s four part story “The Long Lives of Heroes” in Bull Spec in the coming months.
As anybody who’s been following the site knows, Princeless, Firetower’s collaboration with Action Lab Entertainment has had a plethora of great reviews . The series has two issues out already, one more coming in December and another in January. If you want to stay up to date on all things Princeless make sure you “like” Action Lab on Facebook. Also, if you want to see more of Princeless artist M. Goodwin, make sure you check out the site on Deviant Art. And if you are a big fan of M I have some more amazing news: M has signed on as co-creator for Princeless and will be staying with the book long term. So that promises much more strong girl powered goodness to come.
Now, what we’re looking forward to showing you most, are the new projects.
Charlie has already shared some of his early roughs for Illegal, an original series being written by Jeremy and illustrated by Charlie. Illegal will be following the story of an illegal immigrant in a future where every citizen’s identity is certified by a chip in their arm and everyone without a chip is subject to be arrested and deported without trial.
Rich and Jeremy are currently working on Firetower’s first superhero title, Skip. Hopefully we’ll have some new things to share with you on this title shortly. The basic story though follows a new super-heroine who suddenly finds herself at the center of a manhunt by every bad guy in the city.
Finally, Jason and Jeremy are in the process of cooking up a new one-shot that’s super secret…mostly because it’s not finished yet. But I assure you it will be great.
